Clipboard sync explained

How clipboard sync works between Android and Windows

ClipboardX connects an Android phone and a Windows PC so you can copy supported clipboard content on one device and use it on the other. Install the app on both devices and pair them before syncing.

Copy on either device

Copy text on Android and it becomes available to paste on Windows. Copy on Windows and the item becomes available on Android through ClipboardX. Both directions use the same paired connection.

ClipboardX can sync text and one supported image item per transfer. Supported image formats are PNG, JPEG, WebP, BMP and GIF. It does not transfer files, folders or video.

Set up once, then copy and paste

The devices do not need to share the same Wi-Fi network. Both need an internet connection for cross-device transfer.

  • Install ClipboardX on your Android phone and Windows PC.
  • Choose the ClipboardX keyboard on Android when prompted; it lets you access synced clipboard items while typing.
  • Pair the phone and PC using the QR flow shown in the apps.
  • Copy supported content on either device, then paste or open it on the other.

History and control

ClipboardX includes clipboard history so you can revisit recent items in the apps. The Android keyboard also gives access to clipboard items while you are in another app. You can pause synchronization or review the app controls when you do not want items to sync.
