Getting started

Set up Android and Windows clipboard sync

You need ClipboardX on both your Android phone and Windows PC. After pairing them, copy supported clipboard content on either device and use it on the other.

1. Install ClipboardX on both devices

Get ClipboardX for Android from Google Play and install ClipboardX for Windows from the Microsoft Store. Both apps are needed because each device reads and provides its own clipboard.

2. Enable the ClipboardX keyboard on Android

ClipboardX provides an Android keyboard (input method) so you can reach synced clipboard items from the keyboard while using other apps. Follow the Android setup prompt to enable it in system keyboard settings, then select ClipboardX when you want to use its clipboard shelf. Android may show a system warning when enabling a third-party keyboard; review Android’s message and the ClipboardX privacy policy before deciding.

3. Pair Android and Windows

Open the pairing flow in ClipboardX on Windows and scan its QR code with the Android app, then review and approve the pairing on the phone. If the QR flow is unavailable, follow the alternative method shown in the current app. Once paired, both apps should show the device as paired or connected.

Pairing links your phone and PC; it does not require a USB cable or the same Wi-Fi network. Keep both devices online to exchange clipboard items.

4. Test both directions

If something does not appear, use the troubleshooting guide. For feature details, read how ClipboardX works.

  • Copy a short text on Android and paste it into a Windows app.
  • Copy text on Windows and open the ClipboardX keyboard shelf on Android to select the item.
  • If image sync is enabled, test with one PNG, JPEG, WebP, BMP or GIF image.
